Inspecting Old Houses
“Why They Don’t Build Them Like They Used To”
NoVA ASHI Fall Seminar
Thursday October 27, 2022
Old houses have different construction methods and mechanical systems. They have usually been remodeled and updated many times through their lives. This seminar explains the varied and unique situations and hazards encountered. Retrofitting old homes to withstand environmental and seismic extremes and address modern safety and energy concerns can be a challenge. The seminar will help the inspector discover, understand and evaluate these issues and present them to his or her clients. This will help the inspector go beyond minimum inspection requirements and provide a better understanding of how to help the old homes keep their inhabitants safe and comfortable. Learn how to be an “old house detective” and “expect the unexpected”.
